Microwave Irradiation Effect on Photochemical Reactions. This project represents an original idea consisting of a combination of two chemistry fields: photochemistry and microwave chemistry, creating a completely new scientific discipline microwave photochemistry. Microwaves promote two effects when applied on photochemical reactions: a generation UV radiation via electrodeless lamp and a synergic influence of MW and UV irradiation on a chemical reaction. Since the action of microwaves on photochemical reactions is essentially unknown the research will be focused on the investigation of typical photochemical reactions in the microwave field, especially from the point of view of the rate enhancement and chemical selectivity. The study will include two different kinds of MW radiation (monomode, multimode), a development of new electrodeless lamps with desired wavelength and a construction of a continuous flow photoreactor. The goal of the project is to develop a new technique for applicatio
