A long term follow-up as well as laboratory and theoretical analyses show that a lot of defects appearing on the structure as well as individual stone blocks are mostly caused by impacts and influence of termperature and humidity, which are putting the s he structure of the Cherles bridge under variable intensity tension. This tension is due to mutual interaction of individual parts of the bridge with different primary volume change. The rising intensity of physical, chemical and microbiological corrosio n as well as degradation processes of stone wals of bridge vauts, piers and supporting walls is very alarming. The analysis of causes of such degradation processes confirmed that they are caused by increasing aggression of environment as well as the sour ces found inside the bridge structure. A considerable part of the stonework of the bridge has high or very high humidity level troughout the year due to leaking of fainfalls into the bridge. The reconstruction of the Charles bridge assumes construction o
