This project will investigate the preparation of new cucurbit[n]uril derivates. Different factor which influence the composition and size of the macrocycles will be studied including choice and ratio of starting materials, type of solvent and reaction temperature. Suitable separation technique will be found to obtain desired cucurbit[n]uril derivative. In order to determine the influence of macrocycle modification on its binding properties the stability constants of complexes between cucurbit[n]uril derivatives and different guest molecules will be measured. The supramolecular polyvalent systems will be prepared using reactions between selected cucurbit[n]uril derivatives and polymers or oligomers.
